the choice

One thing that I don't think people understand about working in "law enforcement" is that everyday, all day long pretty much you are walking around with this pistol strapped to your side. Nomatter how positive and uplifted you are, I believe that everyone who is in this situation faces a very small voice that at least once a day says "Hey, you have that pistol on your side there, if you want, you can just pull it out and blow your fuckin' brains out and be done with it."

Don't get me wrong...this isn't a "cry for help" or a warning. I could never do such a thing because...it is not honorable. But nevertheless it is still there everyday looking down upon me and those in my field.

Any job that you have to wear a uniform and/or carry a gun....probably not the best career field to be in.

I need to look for something new to do, I need to BE something new.

As a nurse, when i worked. I worked on a floor having to care for 22 patients on a shift. I had keys to the narcotic box. A drug addict who could hardly take care of himself eventually left responsible for 22 OTHER people's well being. I would go into the bathroom, shoot some Demerol and then go back out onto the floor to care fot them. So sad really. I can totally see how a law enforcer would be constantly reminded of the "power" they have attached to their hip. We are all human. Regardless of our "title".
I am soo glad to see you back here with us Nick. Take Care.
